Classes at Old North Tower at the University of Central Oklahoma began in 1893, and it is recognised as the oldest building of higher education in the entire state of Oklahoma. Since the building’s inauguration into the National Register of Historic Places, it has grown into a community icon, and is the enduring symbol of the university.
With the entire internal structural system having been recently removed and replaced with a brand-new skeleton, the university wanted to give the historic exterior a well-deserved transformation.
The lighting solution needed to evoke the texture in the remarkable sandstone walls, whilst minimising the amount of glare.
