Alnwick Castle has been home to the Percy family for more than seven hundred years, and is the second largest inhabited castle in England.

The combination of its spectacular architecture and rich history means that it is often in demand as a film or television location, and has featured in many films and television dramas.

The Guest Hall is an impressive Grade II listed banqueting hall, and is often used as a venue for weddings and corporate events.

As part of a comprehensive refurbishment project, Michael Grubb Studio was asked to develop a lighting scheme that would enhance the historic character of the space, and provide flexibility for events.

LED Linear VarioLED Flex Hydra HD10 IP67 was specified since it is suitable for use in wet areas, and therefore ideal for use in a bar area. The W822 version supplied has a colour temperature of 3000K, which provides warm white illumination in keeping with the character of the space.

Since some events require coloured lighting VarioLED Flex RGB HD20 has also been specified for use, and has been discretely installed in the window recesses to illuminate the features of the window.

DTP Screen Shot 4A key element of the system is the Philips Dynalite lighting control supplied and commissioned by Architainment. This controls all lighting for the hall, and is controlled from a DTP100 touch screen that allows event organisers to easily set different moods.
