Architainment are pleased to announce that they have been presented with the Best Public Project Award at the Philips Lighting Partner Summit held in Warsaw on 17th-18th September 2015.

The award, which was one of just four presented at the summit, is for the lighting scheme at the new Queen’s Building (Terminal 2) at Heathrow Airport, and was selected from a variety of high quality projects from around the globe.

This complex project spanned several years, and Architainment worked with lighting design practices Hoare Lee and StudioFractal to deliver the innovative project.

A unique feature of the new terminal is the fabric soffit suspended from the ceiling that changes colour. This is achieved by using 1700 Philips Color Kinetics ColorGraze QLX Powercore fixtures, 55 data enablers and a Pharos control solution.

Philips Color Kinetics eColor Cove EC Powercore, eW Cove EC Powercore and 600 custom built Philips StyliD luminaires were also used in the main and baggage areas.

As a landmark project, the Queens Building required a lighting company that could work with the lighting designers to deliver a complex lighting solution. As Philips Certified Value Added Partners with a history of delivering cutting edge lighting solutions, Architainment were the ideal choice, and clearly demonstrated their ability to work on large scale projects.

Managing Director of Architainment Nic Tolkien comments
